What this book is about

Marketing is supposed to produce pipeline, and there's never enough of it. Your team is working hard, AI pilots are running, and new tools keep showing up. Yet the numbers aren't moving the way they should.

The problem isn't your people. Marketing was built for a world where people started the work and people did the work. Today the work begins when signals fire, often before anyone on the team notices. Agents can act on them while the moment still matters, but someone still has to set the direction, make the judgment calls, and answer for the result.

MARKETING REBUILT introduces the AI Marketing Engine, a practical operating model for rebuilding B2B marketing around people, AI agents, and pipeline. Ten connected capabilities, and every one of them has to draw a line to pipeline.

What's inside

01

The AI Marketing Engine.

Ten connected capabilities, agents working across all of them, all built on the Scoreboard foundation and the operations underneath.

02

The Scoreboard.

One shared view for the CEO, CRO, and CMO, built on the CFO's numbers, so you can answer what marketing is actually producing.

03

100 agent-powered use cases.

Each one shows the challenge, the signals that start the work, what the agent does, and who keeps the judgment.

04

The Build Map.

One page that lays out what to fix now, what can wait, and who owns each piece.

Table of contents

Frequently asked questions

What is Marketing Rebuilt about?

MARKETING REBUILT is a book about rebuilding how a B2B marketing organization is designed and run now that AI agents can work alongside people. It introduces the AI Marketing Engine, an operating model built on one idea: signals initiate, agents execute, humans govern. Everything in the book ties back to creating and moving pipeline.

Who wrote Marketing Rebuilt?

Mark Tack, a six-time B2B CMO with more than twenty years of experience building marketing organizations across enterprise software, AI, and data companies. He also wrote The Marketing Engine (2018) and The Growth Engine (2020).

What is the AI Marketing Engine?

The AI Marketing Engine is the framework at the center of the book. It organizes B2B marketing into ten connected capabilities: AI Agents, Scoreboard, Positioning, Brand, Pipeline Generation, Customer Marketing, Revenue Acceleration, Content Marketing, Product Marketing, and Engine Operations. Each capability has to draw a line to pipeline.

What are the 100 AI agents in the book?

The book includes 100 agent-powered use cases spread across the engine. Each one covers the business problem, the signals that start the work, what an agent can handle, and where people keep the judgment. They're working examples to adapt to your business, your people, and your systems.

Who should read Marketing Rebuilt?

CEOs and founders who own the number, CMOs and marketing leaders who have to build the new model while hitting this quarter's target, and the revenue and operations leaders who make it work. It's written in plain language for business leaders.

Do I need technical AI skills to use this book?

No. You don't need to know how to build an agent. The book focuses on what to build, what to ask, and who is accountable when it breaks.

How should a marketing team start using AI agents?

Start small. Keep the good people and systems you already have, pick one problem to fix first, such as stalled deals or an underperforming pipeline source, and give it one owner and one pipeline number. Run it for 90 days, then scale it, fix it, or stop it. A full rebuild usually takes 12 to 18 months, depending on where you start.

How does AI change the structure of a marketing team?

Some roles change and some work goes away. The people who become more valuable are the ones who learn to run the system, lead the agents, make the judgment calls, and own the outcome. Chapter 14, The New AI Marketing Workforce, covers how roles and team structure change when people and agents share the work.

How does the book measure marketing ROI?

With the Scoreboard: one shared view for the CEO, CRO, and CMO, built on the CFO's numbers. It answers three questions. Are we winning? Does the room trust the number? Is the engine getting stronger?

Mark Ailsworth

I've known Mark Tack as a thoughtful, opinionated, and highly accomplished marketing leader. His new book, Marketing Rebuilt, reflects all three qualities. Mark makes a compelling argument that AI isn't simply changing the tools marketers use. It's fundamentally changing how marketing organizations need to operate, compete, and deliver growth. Whether you're a CMO, CEO, or revenue leader, this is worth your attention. And perhaps more importantly, it's worth challenging some of your own assumptions. Congratulations, Mark. Great work! #b2b #gotomarket #AI #pipeline #agenticAI

Mark what I appreciate most about your thinking is that it's never innovation for innovation's sake. It's grounded in real-world experience, business outcomes, and the courage to challenge conventional wisdom. Marketing Rebuilt is a timely and important challenge to every leader who thinks their current playbook is good enough. Congratulations on the release!

Rod Cherkas

Congrats on the book launch Mark Tack. It is a tremendous accomplishment to pull together your thoughts and experiences into a book that is easy to read and apply. The B2B marketing world is changing and leaders will need to reskill their organizations and retool themselves. Your book shares ideas for how to do that. I can't wait to get a copy.

Love the 100 AI agents Mark, especially those related to AI contents marketing! If we can just get one AI Marketing Agent right and working, this book is worth everything! Thank you for these great insights Mark!

B2B Marketing rarely gets enough attention, maybe because the media budgets are smaller. But the complexity and rising importance of it is raising its importance dramatically in the C-Suite. Mark Tack, a former client of mine, has authored a terrific, very practical book that covers ABM, personalization, and end-to-end funnel management in the emerging agentic era. He makes the translation of strategy into agentic capabilities easy to understand, and brings a structure for teams to follow that's very clear. As always, he's expanded my thinking and what I should be prioritizing with my own clients. I'm sure this book will do the same for you. It's out, have a read: https://lnkd.in/gggYWi73

Very thorough and comprehensive framework that is relevant today and going forward. It is clearly evident that you know what you are talking about and that anyone starting out in marketing now or who has been in marketing for a while but is now feeling the carpet being pulled from underneath them will find this framework and your book useful, practical, and helpful. Indeed, Mark, you've experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly! (cue movie whistle sound)

Mark, the line that stuck with me is “You can't automate accountability.” Too many teams are layering agents onto an engine nobody owns, then wondering why pipeline doesn't move. Your point on change management is the right one to lead with. People who fear for their relevance won't automate their own work, so the rebuild has to start with giving them a bigger job, not a smaller one. Congratulations on the book dude!!

Greg Kihlstrom

If you are a B2B marketer, I highly recommend you check out the latest book from Mark Tack - it's a fresh look at what it really means to be a marketer today when so much is changing. Yet, despite a big focus on #agenticAI, there is also a very human part to this as well. And, there is a real focus on ROI and getting results!

Greg Kihlstrom

Congrats on the book launch Mark Tack! This is a great way to frame some of the most challenging aspects of enabling the best of both AI and human marketing capabilities.

Raj Kini

Congrats Mark Tack! Love the scoreboard and the readiness report. Provides a lot of clarity and answers a very simple question - where do I begin?

Dr. Jeremy Roberts

This is brilliant work, Mark. The B2B landscape has definitely changed and I feel this is necessary reading for all marketing leaders. Most don’t realize how far behind they are in the MarTech landscape, and that’s why I feel like your book is necessary reading. Great job.

Mike Stocker

Congratulations, Mark! I had the pleasure of working with you during my Marketo days when you were leading marketing at Vibes, and I saw firsthand how strategically you approach building and scaling marketing organizations. What I appreciate about Marketing Rebuilt is how you’ve evolved your Marketing Engine framework for the AI era while keeping the focus where it belongs: pipeline, revenue, and measurable business outcomes. The combination of signals (and might I add the partner integrations give valuable signals,) AI agents, and human accountability are a powerful blueprint for what's next. Well done, my friend!

Kamal A. Tahir

Congrats, Mark. This seems very timely and I am already hooked. One idea here really resonates with me: the biggest opportunity may not be automating what we already do. Efficiency is table stakes. The more interesting question is, what can we now do that we never had the capacity, economics or operational ability to do before? Thousands of signals we couldn’t realistically monitor. Micro-segments we couldn’t justify serving differently. Journeys we couldn’t continuously adapt. Opportunities that disappeared simply because no human had the bandwidth to notice and act in time. That’s where I think agents get really interesting. Automation makes the existing engine faster. New capacity lets us build an entirely different engine
